I am doing a set of door panels and pulling my hair out. I can not get anything to stick to the plastic, I have sanded the crap out of it and tried other tricks but nothing works. As you can see in the second picture the it just pulls up. If you are wondering what is the brown thing in the middle is, I am getting rid of the poket and that is cardboard and fiberglass. ANY suggestions on how to make fiberglass, or bondo stick better to it?
nothing sticks to that stuff. I had the same problem with my door sills and a pillars. I ended up using surfacing primer.
You’ll have to rip that vinyl off to get down to the fiberglass cardboard shell.
the only vinyl there was, was up top and it is already ripped off, the rest is plastic
You wear sandals in the shop?!?! I have enough trouble keeping resin off my hands
quick mold of that portion, make a piece out of fiberglass, cut away the plastic portion and replace it with the fiberglass part, continue as planned
got the plastic sprayed with primer and sanding now, it is sticking so far
i swore the underside of the panels were white? black on ek’s?
make me a set of cf and kelar door panels emi
this is for a customer that we are doing everything that comes off in the interior in red/black. They are almost ready to mold now, had to put aside to finish some other stuff but I will have finished pics in about 2 weeks

Beautiful work!! How much do you usually charge for panels like that?..if you can say.
sick
i liked them
Unbelievable work!
holy shit, nice.
what process did u use for these? overlay? infused? bagged?
I think Evan can figure out what these are for I did not make these but they are sweet as hell!
Definitly beautiful work. As asked previously, what are you charging the customers for work like that? Im guessing around $100 per sq.ft?
I am charging around $800-$1200 to overlay dashes, that should give you an idea. Most of our door panels that we pop out of molds we charge around $800 for the pair and have no problem selling them!
Same question here. Also wouldn’t bulldog adhesive work on that plastic cleaned with plastic prep?
Very nice work
i have never tried bull dog but it is worth a try, it is just resins hate plastic
