Can't find any red flow media

I’m sorry to have to start this thread, but I have looked all over and I couldn’t find a vendor that sells the red flow mesh. I have been using the red for a long time (I orderd a lot the first time I bought it and now can’t remember who I bought it from) and Im happy with it. I see that fiberglasssupply sells the green stuff, but I have never used it and I don’t want to risk ruining a method that works.

Anyone have any sources for the red?

Or perhaps lets hear about those that have use both red and green and how they compare?

Thanks.

I use black, and it is wonderful
it’s a woven media. If the green you talk about is a criss-crossed mesh, I have not had good luck with it. (But, it was also one of my first times infusing a weirdly shaped part, and I think I had some leaks anyway)

There are some new ones that are a spun mesh, that is later heat formed to look like the inside of corrugated cardboard. I beat that stuff rocks.

ps: depending on what your red is: http://www.compositesystems.com/products.aspx?id=900&t=i also, http://www.richmondaircraft.com/what-we-do/resin-infusion/vip-infusion-flow-r91/

I’ve been using the green for about a year now and honestly, I couldn’t tell a difference between the two.

The green and red “flow medias” are just some random product, and people decided to use them for infusion. Honestly, they suck.
Try some EnkaFusion mesh and you’ll get even better results.

Not sure who makes the red material but Airtech was selling it and has recently replaced it with the green.
Call them they might have some left over.

TET,
Are you using the blue stuff from
EnkaFusion? I just got a roll of it, but haven’t tried it yet.
Do you put peel-ply on both sides of it?
I found I had to do that with the red stuff or it didn’t flow.

I get mine from Composites Canada in Mississauga, ON

Thanks guys lots of good responses.

Does the enkafusion soak up a lot of resin itself? I just don’t want to be wasting a crap load of resin in a flow media…

The only enkafusion I have seen is in narrower tapes…not sheets that you can cut into the shape you want… I have seen it a fiberlay.

905, I did see it at com.can. but they always ship the most expensive method!!! even when I ask for the least expensive, so I try not to buy form them anymore…

FiberglassSupply and Airtech both sell the red and the green. The green is a smaller spaces and the red slightly larger spaces. #60 is the red and #75 is the green. Just ask FiberglassSupply to send you the red #60. The green doesn’t flow as quick as i would like to see… ie: small part taking 15-20 minutes to fully infuse.

TET now that is interesting… that red and green had some other application aside from infusing composites. I don’t doubt it though.

I think i have a small sample of Enkafusion here… the stuff i have is white and has hex shaped “cells”. It is much flater than the green airtech medium.

Also 20_RC51_00… phone airtech and ask them if they can sell you a 87 foot (28 meters or so ) roll… priced around $64 + shipping… if you want to stick with green and want a qty of it.

maybe it is my flow medium that is giving me slow infusions… darn crap.
