Buffing Epoxy resin based parts?

I’m curious, is there any product out there to buff epoxy based parts to a really nice shine? I currently can’t do any clear coat spraying… but I still want to get that nice shiny surface.

If you don’t have a surface coat, what are you going to buff? The fibers?

you don’t necessairly need a surface coat do you?

I mean, there is a thin film of resin on the outside after an infused part is popped out of the mold, can’t you just buff that?

depends on how thin the layer is doesn’t it?
You will probably end up trying to buff fibers though.

not only that but epoxy just doesn’t take to polishing all that well

Here is the latest infusion, It came out of the mold looking very good but I’d still like to polish it a bit, do you think it would be ok?

maybe I’ll test a bit on the overhanging flange…

yes you can buff it, use a buffer and 3m extra cut compound. it will make it nice and shiny
