Breather Q:

I’m full of questions today:D

I want to use some perforated release ply over a wet lay up followed by “econo breather”, the white stuff. Once the part is cured will there be a lot of tiny white fluffy dots left on my laminated surface? After the release ply is pulled off that is.

Unless the breather is touching the part directly, it shouldn’t stick to it. Make sure to use a strong/thick peel ply though.
Also depends how much excess resin you have to take out.

hmm, so i should use peel ply over the perforated release ply?

If your making a flat panel its like this:

glass
peel ply (if needed, I prefer it one way or the other)
perforated release (keeps the breather dry to an extent)
Breather
bag

I’ll try one part without peel ply, just perforated release film and breather.

Thanks guys

Perforated release film doesn’t let much resin pass. It leaves a smoother finish, but higher resin content.

yes or no

It`s depend of holes size in film and how strong is that film

the film is nice and thick… like 4 mil thickness and it has pinholes spaced 1/4" apart.

I need to make this thing quick, probably tomorrow i’ll try a vacuum test on just the metal tube to see if it crushes it. The tube doesn’t have enough room to tape around the ends with bag tape so i have to envelope bag it.

I may just make the bag really long so i can push the ends of the bag inside the tube so there is equal pressure on both sides of the tube wall.
