Bonding Epoxy

I found this online. I’ve used Hysol Loctite products a lot and can say they are VERY good. We used them to bond metal to metal and for gap filling then machining. yep some Hysol products can be precision machined even if needed. The price isn’t too painful on some of their products. I’m thinking about trying some Hysol#609 for bonding brackets to the backside of fiberglass/cf parts. It sets in 5 minutes and has a 3 minute work time. You can even buy the Hysol dispenser so it mixes the A&B as it comes out the mixing tip. As long as you clean and cap off the tip after each use it should last a long time.

Yeah I like the 609 too. Where do you get yours? I pay over $8 for a 50ml dual cartridge.

So far i have not tried the 609. All the 609 I found online is $8 for 50ml. At one of my past jobs we used a lot of hysol products… We used them inside of aircraft turbine engine cases to bond liners in place. Then inside the liner the mechanic later will install a bearing. We also used this gooey black paste Hysol inside of 747 brake housing assemblies… that was the machinable stuff. It’s like pure carbon when machining it…black dust.

ive used a few hysol product. i picked up composites in the air force. we used a hysol product and called it triple m. it had a number but can remeber what it was. it was emerald green in color. cure in 20 minutes. would bond anything to gether. composites metal to metal composite to metal. whatever, it worked. mostly we used it for titanium or aluminum bonded honeycomb core composite panels… the stuff was magic. also used double bubble packets for everything composite related. apply cure sand done. basic two part epoxy. worked great for glueing quarters to the floor in front of the vending machine… or even glueing the lid in the up position in the girls bathroom… lol freakin fly boys.

do you happen to recall what this triple m stuff was? I’m looking for something just like this. THanks.

I’m thinking of going with the E120-HP, it’s “ultra high strength” and has a tg of 90 celcius. Plus it’s good for thermoset-thermoset and metal-thermoset.

If you are able, do a test with this bonding epoxy. I’d like to know how thick it is and how strong it is  Cure time and work time also.
