Bonding Delrin to Epoxy/Carbon, What Glue?

Title says it all. Need and adhesive that will bond Acetate to a epoxy/carbon layup. Trying to avoid using fasteners.

The bonded part will see 30 lbs of force and 19 pounds of pull.

that’s a tough one, the only thing i can think of would be something silicone based. Thermosets and thermoplastics are tough to bond to each other.

I had a customer that wanted an overlay over acetal delrin, i told him it probably wouldn’t stick for long.

Surface preparation is very important.
But why is mechanical fastening not an option?

Mostly by choice. Other reasons would be weight, corosion, and asthetics. Could possibly see saltwater.

You didn’t say what the acetate was to be used for, and that the items may be subject to salt water most likely something on a boat - or chassis of a car in the north in winter?

We “bonded” large windows (Lexan - not acetate - but suspect wold work as well) using Sil-Pruf. Its black window adhesive (Dow I think-maybe 3M). Have stuck tight thru tropical heat, wind and storm for over 7 years.

Can provide more details of our install if that helps - just trying to figure out what you are “sticking together.”
Cheers - Jim

Its a 30 degree bracket that holds a nickle coated washer. The washer is a contact for a 19# pull magnet. The magnet is there as a saftey net, as in, the part will break away if anything hits it with more than 19# of force (in theory). Im bumping it up to 30#'s though. Decided to go with SS bolt/locknuts.

Thanks for the tip on SilPur. Ill check it out.
