Body Kit Overlay

hey, i am thinking about doing a front bumper bodykit overlay with carbon fiber, and i wanted to know if u can use 1 big peice to cover the whole bumper or do i need to cut smaller peices to cover up the spots that i didnt get. and how would it look and would vacuum bagging it work better. Thanks

well most body kit companies overlay everything they do. Say all of Carbon Creations carbon body kits. They make a fiberglass bumper then they overlay carbon on it and then either spray a clear or they will brush a gelcoat on and then sand. That is the only way they can make them without getting massive air bubbles. You should be able to do it in 1pc of carbon and i would not bag it because the vaccum pressure will most likely crush or damage the bumper.

thanks but what if i dont overlay all of it and there is a fraily medium size spot i couldnt get. do i cut a peice of cloth about the same size and just lay it on and will it look right or look alittle uneven or messed up? also do you know where i can get some guides

Try draping a piece of CF over it, cutting (best is to try and tape edges before cutting) and forming it to your piece.

You will not do it with just one piece.

Paint it black and let it dry before start laying the CF as the under color will show between the weave…

Then go back and add the missing smaller CF pieces first, before adding the largest one.

Or paint it completely black and just add the CF on the frontal face only???
