Hi guys,
Another dreaded ‘recommend me an epoxy thread’
Here is what I’m looking for. I need to bond two pieces of CFRP plastic together (epoxy based Gurit SP115). The epoxy (or whatever, if you recommend a silicone or acrylate with similar properties that’d be great) needs to be dark grey to black (it’s okay if it can be dyed) and have a pot/working life of at least ten minutes. It should be flexible enough to withstand slight impacts without shattering. It should be a paste consistency so it can be ‘spread’ onto the part.
I looked at Adtech EA-605, which is a lighter grey paste and can’t be dyed without contaminating volumes of pigment so that’s a problem for me. Their rep then recommended their marine pro bond system which is neutral in color and can be pigmented. He also recommended their EA-627 but it only comes in drum quantities so that’s outta the question :(.
Any recommendations?
TL;DR version:
bonding two CFRP epoxy panels
should be dark grey to black, or neutral and capable of being pigmented.
paste consistency
a little bit of flexibility - rather, not highly brittle.
10+ minute working/pot life; cure life ideally would be 3-5 hours then
easily purchasable size in the US (no drums!)
THANKS!
