Black Paint

I’m looking for what is a good black paint to use on the backside of my composite parts. I would like it to have some sheen to it but not gloss or semi gloss. For now rattle cans would be ideal, but eventually i want to buy this by the gallon and spray it with a gun.

Well I found out what i want to use in the way of black satin paint; Kirker Hot Rod Black. It is a 2K acrylic urethane satin paint. A one gallon kit costs $85 shipped inside the USA… probably a few more dollars to ship to Canada.

It’s available on ebay at that price.

Before I had a compressor & gun I painted my boats with K&B or KlassKote epoxy paint. I used the aerosol disposable touch up bottle. Both can be found at your local hobby shop.

i just use gellcoat and add styrene to thin and patchaid to harden corectley

this might sound bad but i use dollar generals flat black rattle can acrylic enamel paint. its one dollar.

works great.

anything that you guys could suggest for pinstriping that comes in a bottle? I have been using some of the small testors paints that you buy at hobby shops for painting you little plastic models. But the problem is that it when it dries it is still quite easy to mar or pick at. It’s also soluble…
