Best way to reproduce this part

Ok my thread below died and I didnt ask my question in the way I intended. So I have a three peice lip kit which is rare. So here is the part.

First option I looked at was making it out urethane like the original part but after seeing the coments from my last thread it looks like it will be to much work.

Wet lay up also seems like to much work.

I was then thinking of vac bagging it but from what I have seen I cant make a full one piece object. They would have to be made into two pieces then put together.

So I know I need a good mold. I will most likley have an advanced member produce for me. Just need to best route to take for reproducing this.

Thanks

It looks like you would have to make a three piece mold, for the curved pieces. The straight piece looks like it could be a one piece mold. But I could be wrong.

do you have pics of it looking from the inside?

Keeping in mind the carton size and shipping costs if you indeed plan on running production.

A three piece item will still be easy for your customer to install and even better for you package and affordably ship. :!:

Also if you end up selling as wholesale, packing several boxes “IN” a case will be more attractive to your clients for ship/handleing and stocking.

I don’t see a need for multiple parts mold for any of those pieces. They look tricky, but the draft angles are all positive.

Draft angels? As far as it being it in three pieces it suppose to be that way and will stay that way. How would I go about make a mold for this since I need to have defined shaped on both sides.

Draft angle is basically a part looks like a V. This allows the part to be pulled out of the mold. Typically 3 degrees is the most common angle. If the part looks like a U, the parallel sides will make it more difficult. If the part has negative angles, you wouldn’t be able to pull it out of the mold.

The two side pieces are pretty straight forward. Just add a flange to the back edge and lay up the outside. Can’t tell from the center piece. What does the other side look like?

the bottom side of the middle section is flat and the peice in maybe 1.5 thick. There has to be a better way then laying this up with glass.

nope thats the best way. apply a flange and get at it. Should take an hour or so.

Sure there’s a better way to do it. Find someone else to do it for you. But you already mentioned that in the original post. So just take it to the person and go here, make this. No need for you to worry about how to make it.

What are your end lans for these parts/
Do you plan on reproducing them?
If you don’t plan on producing them in a production manner, it gives you several options. the cheapest would be Chopped matt laminate mold to chopped mat part.
The second would be a silicon rubber mold and then urethane casting into it.
It has a lot to do with the complexity of the back side and what type of mounting flanges or attachments are needed on back.

Yes I Want to reproduce it. Guess Ill find a shop here in the state that can do it .

If you had listed in your bio where you are located, maybe someone is near you…
