Best way to prep part for multiple pulls

Hi, Great forum and plenty of good advice here!

I’m new to the world of composites but wanting to learn so i’m going to work on a small 6" part - its an existing part of a moped and i’m wanting to make multiple carbon fibre pulls from it assuming all goes well.

My questions are:
Whats the best method for closing up the grooves and the slot on the LHS?

Would it be better to get the piece to a high gloss finish or try to achieve that with clearcoat after?

This will he a hand/wet layup btw - all advice welcome!

Anyone? C’mon bet someone has an answer

Anyways, filler it is and a coat of lacquer!

as for groves use plasticine or modeling clay. You can easily make the flanges with it as well. Wetsanding the filler with 1200 grit will give a decent finish and wax will bring it to high gloss so Your mold will be nice.

Are you trying to use the existing part as the mold or are you going to make a mold from the existing part?

Trying to make a mold from it…

My advise:
there is plenty information in this forum, just be patient and read. use search. Best way to learn something is to read, understand and try. peace
