So is buying from fibre glast the best way to get small quantity orders of carbon?

Just wondering if anywhere else can supply it for less in small quantitys?

Maybe even individuals?

It just seems like if someone can get it for roughly 32-35 a yard then there might be someone willing to sell it at a markup less than 60 percent for a small order.

Any advise or leads? Maybe I am missing something or just cheap, or both, but it doesn’t seem like something that would need to be marked up that far for simply cutting a small section off a large bulk roll and shipping it in a tube.

Is there something I am missing on why it is so much more expensive for a small section?

And yes I am asking if anyone that buys in bulk would be willing to sell some at a better price, but I am not asking for it at your price. Just asking that it would be better than other places for 2-3 yards at a time than I have seen or people have posted links too. Its no fun being the small time doit yourselfer. :frowning:

selling carbon in small lots is a problem for anyone.
it requires someone to take the pains and care that an experienced carbon fiber laminator would give it in order not to ruin the weave. it also takes a gamble that the weave will not be slightly out of place due to an unrully shhipping shift. (ups will not do anything it the box isn’t damaged and even if it is damaged, the driver has to be notified and markit up as damaged container while he is there.
The cost for cutting and the packaging is somewhat small, but everyone has to make something for their labor and it would take almost an hour out of anyones time to pull, rollout, cut reroll both the cut stock and the uncut roll, and then wrap, package, and fill out labels and stick them on the package, and then truck them to a parcel service or pay to have them stop in.

There is some inconvenience to it. I myself would probably charge less, but I don’t have lots of carbon on hand now and foresee a big void in availability of carbon soon. if it was me, I would hang on to it.
Carbon fiber will be jumpng in price again soon.

been my experience that carbon for $25 a yard isn’t too hard to find

anything from fibreglast will be rediculously overpriced

fyi, I buy carbon in 100 yd rolls for $1800. stop buying small quantities as soon as you can.

I guess it is fortunate that those of us that can buy at quantity discounts can do so. and congratulations to all of us that can. The question remains…Do any of us that do buy in quantity feel that we would take the time out of our schedule to “carefully” unroll, cut reroll and roll up the cut from roll, etc etc to allow a discount to the posting memeber.

I know it is available for a descent price yesterday, the question becomes tomorrow, and will you sahre some of your discount.

I am in the process of determining that now.

I can’t say yes at this point. can any of the remaining members say yes to the posters dilemna.

I think there are plenty of places right now that’ll sell it for a lot less than what fibreglast wants… hell, I bought 5 yards of carbon about 12 hours ago at $24 a yard… doesn’t insure the price for tomorrow, but there are places that will sell it cheaper…

can’t wait for the day I can buy carbon by the roll

Where have you found carbon for $25 per yard? The lowest price i have been able to find is $32.

I’m referring to 5.7oz 12 Warp 3K Carbon X 12 Fill 3K Carbon, 2 X 2 Twill Weave which seems to be the most common stuff used.

yeah, i buy mine from aerodramatics.com at alittle under $25/yard. Its good stuff too. I buy 5 yards at a time and always get it in good shape.
