Behind the mould - Infusion

In most case, you can’t see what’s happen when you make infusion.
The mould is opaque and you can’t know if your first layer is correctly in place. During the infusion process, you can’t know if all your part is wet.

For my job, I realised a mould directly in plexiglass. So I’ve decided to share with you the video of the process “behind the mould”

In the first time the infusion is fast due to the mesh and take much time after.
Hope this video can help you to understand the progession of the resin during the infusion.

Enjoy !!

nice video!!!

Curious, did you use a vacuum table and hot plexi to make the mold? We use that technique for some lense covers, really didn’t think of how efficient it could be for making small Convex molds.

The mould has been made with a CNC milling, directly in a block of plexiglas from my 3D file. After the milling, the mould is polished to a perfect surface.
It’s the second mould that I made like this and I have really nice results.

I use a vaccum table for other works and I thing that is possible to use it directly as a mould but I don’t find the good plastic material.
