I worked in a composites research lab back in college and I loved it. I graduated 3 years ago and haven’t done much since but I’m looking for a career change so I’m trying to improve my knowledge. I heard this is a great place to do that, so here I am!
I am currently in Maine (I went to college at UMaine), but looking to move to Salt Lake City in the next few months. I would like to get back in the composites field, doing research, making bike parts, manufacturing supplies, etc. I’m not picky.
My work at the research lab was more on the labor end of things, so I assembled pre-designed parts for vacuum infusion, or crafted small samples using pre-preg and then tested the samples and helped analyze the data. I am here to learn what I was working with and why, since most of my work was along the lines of “insert part A into part B and seal with tacky-tape.”
I’ll appreciate any advice, suggested reading, or anything. I probably won’t post much for a while but I’ll be around. Wish me luck!
