I’m just curious what bagging film everyone is using for infusion. I tried using some Stretchlon that I have but I’ve found that it sucks for infusion.
I use the green stuff (think it’s Airtech) sold by Rayplex in Oshawa. $40 for 25 yrds.
is it a good idea to have a stretchy bagging film?
I find the stretch film is great for bagging but when infusing it tends to cut off the resin flow under.
What is the width of this material?
Single or folded dbl. overed?
It is not. You want a low/no stretch film so it doesn’t hamper flow through the media and/or surface.
vacbag 2000 from northern fiberglass is amazing stuff
I don’t see it on their web site?
Confused on what bagging film to buy. I have been using a thick (4mil or 6 mil can’t remember which) bagging film tube which I have just cut to the sizes I need, it has very little to no stretch at all. I am at the point where I’ve almost run out and need to start looking for some more. It has worked well for me so far but just wondering what others would be good. I am using it for infusion. Is a 4-6 mil bag just over kill and more cumbersome then I really need?
hojo, you recommended vacbag 2000 but I can’t find this anywhere for the life of me, not even on the norther fiberglass site you mentioned…
the stuff I’ve been using is here http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/Product_Catalog/Vacuum_Bagging/vacuum_bagging.html again I can’t remember whether it was poly 4 or 6 mil or the nylon bagging tube.
Also a question, what is the difference as far as using nylon versus poly bagging films??
Stretchlon 800 bagging film has been working fine for me. I just double up the flow medium. Or if you are using infusion specific resin you shouldn’t have to double up the flow medium i don’t think. maybe use the red flow netting medium from Airtech.
sorry, actually the name is stretch-vac2000, and is a richmond aircraft product, can be purchased from northern fiberglass. it has strecth to it, 500%, a very tuff bag film, is not affected by humidity, does not slow resin flow for infusion, this is much better for infusion and I have yet to have and leak problem unlike other films I have used that always have holes
I am using the red flow media at the moment, it’s pretty good but you have to compensate considerably for the excess resin that it eats up.
Hojo, i’m a bit confused, if this film you speak of is stretchy, and others are stretchy but you said that those are no good because they restrict resin flow, then why does this one not restrict the resin flow?
it is a stretchy bag, but is unlike some of the other kind of flex bags, this one feels alot like the nylon bags but will stretch, it isnt like the rubbery strecth bags. I have found no difference in infusion time between the nylon and this bag. and I have yet to have a leak in the bag. you will like it
