Bag Film

Hi guys,

I am looking for a decent vacuum bag film that will stretch some. Mostly i want it to be resistant to epoxies ( not all bag film is); and It needs to be inexpensive by the yard.

I like stretchlon 800 but it is expensive and can be hard to create pleats with sticky tape. The 800 runs around $4-6 a yard, so I am looking for something less costly.

Also a good supplier for bag tape that won’t run me $7 a roll?

Both prices are cheap. Although the bagging film should be in the $2-3 range per yard if you’re buying decent quantities. Buying a yard at a time is crazy!

Call Airtech and see if they will send you samples of all the various bagging films. Let them know you are interested in purchasing a good amount depending on what works for you. They have all the data on elongation, service temp, etc.
Also, I think Richmond Aircraft (or am I thinking Northern Fiberglass Sales?) should have other brands as well you can research.
I’ve used 2 kinds, both were fine and dandy. One was very stiff and didn’t stretch much at all. It’s green and from Airtech.

I use the 800 all the time and dont have any problems with the pleats. It was expensive though but worth it in my opinion as I had tried some cheaper ones which seemed to pierce very easily even from the edges of the infusion mesh

Stretchlon 200 doesn’t work well. infusion mesh pokes holes in it also and epoxy seems to eat at it.

I emailed them again today to request samples in hopes of buying full rolls of film and peel ply. I like their products, so i hope they do come thru for me.
