Automated Cutters

I so want an automated cutter and table.

Aeronaut makes one that will cut dry cloth, carbon and fiberglass. Will most composite plotters cut dry cloth? Do you have to vacuum the cloth down to the table so it doesn’t move around?

this could save me a bunch of time and looks more professional with accurate cutting.

Anyone know how much a “cheap” one sells for?

here is a video of a lazer cutter… overkill for what i need.

Let’s just say they’re very expensive. One would have to be doing a large amount of work, or selling very expensive parts for it to make sense.
Small ones might be more reasonable, but still not cheap.
The ones for prepreg will generally cut carbon and glass. The dry fabrics may require a different cutter head, and it’s easy to disfigure the cut parts when removing them from the table.

We use a couple of 60’ Gerbers:

Very nice set up… mmmm prepreg:)

looks like I need to step my game up lol

hey TET,

when you guy at the company you work for learn new techniques, how do you learn? Are there sales reps for companies that teach you how to use their materials or equipment or do you hire people that already knowlegeable in it? There is a soooo much I want to learn but I dont have an avenue to learn it because of my location

The company I work for is actually my own manufacturing company! I also do consulting for outside firms. I do the training for my employees, and offer training courses to aerospace manufacturers. You are welcome to come out here and take my classes, and you may be able to get some work too.
If we get new equipment, a rep will usually come out to set it up and show how to use it.
