Aprilia Dorsoduro Carbon fiber project

Hey, here I am again,

I am owner of Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 hyper and now I have already done 4600km. The bike is perfect with great sound and power. Of course I didn’t leave it like that:D , I change it in Full Carbon. Maybe is the first Dorsoduro carbon fiber bike in the world.

so… here’s the photos:

my new exhaust system:

I make and the rear tank panels:

Hehehehe now its time to change the Frontlight and the exhaust tubes

Coming new photos…

Good job making all the body work, as it seems to fit well.
But maybe don’t use so much clear coat, or use a matte clear. As I mentioned before, your parts seems too look “greasy” like overlays, or could be from too much resin.

Everythink made it with infusion system. The resin is believe me too little in the infusion system. Now about the clear coat, yes I try to make it as shine I can. I don’t like it matte, that’s why all my parts is exremely shine. But some times my customer asking for matte parts :frowning:

Ok, Interesting. Hopefully the parts are full carbon if they are not being painted. Weight savings and looks good!

Almost everything we make gets painted, so the carbon is not just used for looks. The parts come out of the mold like this:

Do you using any geat coat? I see some holes on the part, except if you are going to painted us you mention it.

There are no holes on the surface, could be dust after they were trimmed or small bumps from scratches in the very used molds. No gelcoat is used, because it can’t take the high temperature. The parts are cured at 350*F and 100 psi!

Nice work!

Where you are using this temperature and 100psi?

An autoclave…only place capable of that to my knowledge.

that, and next to a volcanic ocean vent.

very very good. It’s yours or you pay everytime for this? If you pay, how much?

I know a few people that have a lot of hot air.

HAHA!

sorry.

actually, closed molding, and diaphram molding (which, in a way is like a clave i think…Clavelite  ) are other ways I think that can get high temp/pressure

Pretty sure I’ve posted pics of the autoclaves already. Some stuff is cured at only 250*, and some just in ovens with no pressure.
Not everything is cured in them though. Automotive stuff is better to infuse and oven cure. I don’t deal much with regular street cars because those people are too cheap!
The business is going more towards infusion to reduce costs. Running the autoclaves is very expensive, but for the aerospace stuff it will be around for a long time.

To buy an autoclave worthy of bike and automotive parts, your talking $100K+ easily. I think the small claves used in doctors offices run in the $40,000 price range and there not much bigger than 1 cubic foot.

cooooooooollllll
