Any ideas for the best way to create a rounded edge on carbon

Hi everyone,

I have a project where I need to make multiple carbon products but one of the issues is i need to put a rounded nose edge on the cut edges for health and safety reasons. The layup is only 1-1.5mm thick so there is a sharp edge exposed. The moulds can be single piece tools and requires no splits but i would like to create a curved nose on the part. The issue is its too tight to make a mould to create the curve as its too small and tight. I have received a part from the other manufacturer that we are taking over from and he has pretty much just thickened the area with strips the sanded it into shape. I was just wondering if there was a neater way in doing this that will be more consistent as its a high end client and i want to offer the best products possible

I would appreciate any thoughts

cheers

For such task I use the KORDO from Delta-Tech.it.
It works well, if an accurate planning of the moulds harness its accomplished.

Thankyou Roberto,

I’ve never seen this material before! looks ideal!

Thanks again

Interesting material

Now that is cool Roberto, thanks!

Ive ordered some… will let you know outcome!

I’d use a thickened paste with your resin system and basicly edge seal the part. Your layup is prob too thin for KORDO. or you can make your own out of some roving and just wrap your laminate around it and back onto itself.

Hi Dzerr… thats a good idea!
