any experience with the cheaper ebay vac pumps

so looking on ebay I have noticed much cheaper vac pumps single and dual stage. I’m assuming they are made in a low cost country and are generic no name products.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with any of these?

Price is sometimes an indicator of quality… but not always…

thanks

I bought an old lab pump off ebay, was used but looks clean. Works perfectly. It’s a low CFM lab type but it sucks great and is quiet, american made, and feels sturdy. I bought a pump from harbor freight once and it seemed ok too. about $90 from them, i returned it as I ended up winning an ebay auction for my current pump. It’s hard to tell on quality of the pumps on ebay so I try to move toward a name brand. I guess it depends on how much you plan on using it which pump to go with…

I don’t have any actual experience with the eBay pumps, but I was originally planning on getting one when I started my infusion setup. I eventually decided that I was better off paying for quality, and forked out $300 for a ‘good’ one from a composites store (won’t name them).

When it arrived I have to say I was disappointed, it isn’t exactly of the quality I was expecting. Not to say that it’s bad or there is anything wrong with it, in fact it works solidly and has performed flawlessly as of yet. But when you fork out 300 bucks for a pump that you expect to be higher quality and made in Australia; and then receive one with an unreadable Japlish manual and no noticeable difference between the eBay ones… It does make me wonder whether there is actually any difference at all.

A different route than ebay that I went was through an industrial surplus supplier. 2 year warranty, completely rebuilt before shipping and was around $400 if I remember correctly. The 2 year warranty alone was a huge bonus (even though I expect the pump to last longer than me). Add on some KF clamps and fittings, vacuum oil and a cheap oil filter and it was about $500.

I seem to be collecting Busch pumps off of ebay. First was a new ra010 pump without motor for $150 usd, picked up 1 hp motor for $600. $750 total for a new pump. Then found a exceptional rb021 2010 year single phase for $199 usd.!! Then a ra006 for $50 usd. I’m done… There is a cherry ra006 for $120 on 3rd page…,
