Altering part shape by altering the mold

Has anyone tried to alter the final part shape by changing the part shape? I’m forced to since i couldn’t justify taking a saw to destroy a brand new $950 boat I used as my plug.

I was thinking of using bondo to go the quick shaping, and then gelcoat and microballons for the final tool surface.

Any suggestions?

Apply mould release or PVA, re-model the part, make mould, soak part in water until the PVA dissolves, and the remodelling falls off.

Like I said to get to the final shape I want I would have to destroy a $950 boat which I am not going to do. The part geometry was to complex I barely got this mold off I am trying to alter the mold to make future releases easy.

another way is to splash a quick mold off the original then pull a part and modify. but that takes time and money.

Yeah I considered using expanding foam, but I wouldn’t even be able to get that out of the mold

why not splash a fiberglass plug off the mold?

Hmm maybe. Would you use CSM for that?

Removing the mold did enough so much damage to it in the problem areas that it would still make as much sense to alter it as I make it capable of even pulling a part structurally.

you could. depends on what you are trying to acheive.
