airbox set

Took a photo of the complete set that I took for a customer and figured I’d post it. Upper airbox was once posted.

some more of the parts that make up the set

looks good, multi-part molds or disolvable foam?

Is that for a Ducati? Very nice work;)

every single piece is either 2 piece mold or 3 piece molds. The airbox is for 2003-2007 Yamaha TZ250

Wow, that’s a really nice bike. I never even heard of them until now. How did you buy that bike in the United States? I have never seen them here before.

well once upon a time you used to be able to order them through Yamaha USA for use in the AMA 250GP series. Since the AMA dropped the 250GP class, Yamaha no longer imported those in for racing so the only way to get them was to either go to Japan and buy one and get it shipped here to the U.S. or go through a broker. They make about 22 of them a year with most of it going to supported teams so it’s still farely difficult to get since you put your money down and hope you get one. It also doesn’t look like that when you buy one. It comes unpainted with white wheels as to give the teams that run the bike to paint it in their team colors. It also comes with a seasons worth of spares like 10 pistons, a crank, 2 cylinders and a bunch of misc gaskets and such.

nice stuff.

I know a guy that may want a set, he had a nasty get off. Email me a price or I can have hime just email you.

his is a 98 but he had the 2 ram air duct body work installed. (what I was told I don’t know much about tz’s)

Interesting. I was unaware they used to use the that bike in the 250 class of MotoGP. What’s the top speed one one of those? How many gears?

It will not work with a 98 as those have different shaped airboxes since they have different cases than the 2000+ bikes. He probably had the retro fit lower cover so he can run the newer style bodywork. What’s his name? I probably know him?

The factory Yamaha bikes were called YZR250 but no longer compete in 250GP. The last year was with Shinya Nakano and Olivier Jacque. Kurz Yamaha ran TZ250’s for a few years and then just gave up on the program.

what is disolvable foam?
