Air purifier

Hey guys. Just wondering what you in home makers and or small shop owners are using to purify your air from the carbon dust.

I know when cutting items if done indoors is a real issue with dust, and even a dedicated room and shop vac I feel that it’s not enough “saftey” even when wearing a proper mask.

Does anyone have any recommendations on an air purifier that attracts carbon dust molecules? I know some have positive charges that attract dust as well and some just do it with a regular filter. I cut in my basement so if it has a built in dehumidifier that would be awesome too!

Use an air ionisor. That at least lets the particles cling together, and drop down. Good housekeeping does the rest.

Basically an air purifier that advertises that type of technology then? Would this probably qualify?

Yes, that kind of stuff.

Awesome thanks.

A couple of things to keep in mind.

  1. Does it get hot enough to release fumes when you cut it (assuming you cut resin impregnated …)
If so you will need a air purifier with something capable of absorbing the gasses.
  2. How big is the area that you cut in?
The bigger the area the more airflow the air purifier will need to be in order to do its job. Another option is to create a small room using construction pastic in a open basement to reduce the amount of air volume the air purifier needs.
  3. Are you using a facemaks or do you want something that creates enough suction that all the dust is immediately sucked up.

Ever try one of these as well: Maybe something to look into

Yeah I’m cutting after post curing so everything should be fine. I wear a mask, not my charcoal filtered one though and don’t smell any fumes.

The area is a small 8x8 room that’s attached to another larger room. Basically I’d say 300sq feet max. I’ve built one of those chambers before for painting though and still use it. That’s a good idea if I had more room I think.

I just wanted to get rid of any remaining small harmful dust particles if they were floating around. I’ve been trimming outside though since the weather has been nicer.
