Air compressor died

I think the motor is fried…the thermal reset button doesn’t do anything.

Anyone know a good cheap 100V unit? We’re doing a garage teardown and house remodel soon, after which I will get a 60 or 80 gal 220V unit. But that’s at least 6 months down the line.

In the meantime, I want to use a 110V unit in the backyard to spray gelcoat and stuff. Harbor Freight had one for $99 I think. It only needs to last a year or so, then I will scavenge the tank and use it to add capacity to my air or vacuum setups in the future.

Why not look for a quality used 220v compressor, with smaller tank so size is not an issue? When have the space to upgrade to a bigger unit, the smaller one will still be working fine, and can be used to add extra capacity to your bigger unit.

I don’t have 220V in the backyard. I could always upgrade and add an outlet but…too much hassle in my mind.

Shame I would imagine the 100v units arent a lot of good!

I may try and replace the compressor motor, which still doesn’t help when I have to move it to the backyard. I guess 110V is the only way to go while the construction is going on.

It’s just minor spraying of gelcoat and pva anyway, not running any sand blasting tools, etc.

That’s what i was going to suggest, replacing the motor.

I’ve used 110V compressors a lot and only had trouble with one of them. It was an oil-less type so it vibrated so hard that the copper tube that fills the tank broke at the fitting. It only took it like 3 months from new to self destruction. I think it was a Campbell Hausfeld.

Again, no 220V in the backyard…so once the garage is torn down, I need to do some electrical work in order to use it. I’ve found someone to lend me their 110V compressor, so all’s good for now.

Rezcar, sorry I missed your call, but I’m moving a bunch of molds to a shop to get products made from them…

Call me later today or I’ll call you!
