yes but it needs to be 3m super 77 i believe?? i tried it with normal carpet stuff and this happened…anyone else any help on this cause i could do with some info on when and how to use it properly too.

thanx gtfour. and you vacuumed? not infused correct? also, your using Ester Resin or epoxy?
infused with epoxy but bagging would be the same,it just dissolved the epoxy, massive craters all over it.the nozzle was a bit blocked hence the irregular spray of glue lol.
dont bother with bagging, make the effort to try infusing, you only need a few extra bits of kit if you are already set up for bagging.
once you get it correct, which you can easily do with the help of this site you will rarely suffer a part that isnt perfect…
I first want to perfect Bagging, which i did. but still getting pinholes. I want to Spray it with a Clear Coat then see the results but im waiting on the shipping. Im going to use Krylon UV Protection Clear Coat. I have searched on this site and some people have been using it with much success on carbon parts. Maybe im wrong? i wonder how it holds up with heat??? shoot, i just remembered the heat part once cured. =
anyone have thoughts on it? I am using Epoxy resin which doesnt have much UV protection.
Whats a good site to start the infusion process with pics etc.
there used to be a fantastic write up on here but all the pics disaperared
infusion WILL eliminate the pinholes on your first attempt.
have you got most of the kit?
vac pump that pulls 29" vac
pressure pot,can be home made
vac gauge
thick bag tape
bag film
flow media
peelply
3/8" hose
clamp
thats about it,the best part is you have all day to lay the bag up rather than rushing around like you do with bagging.
hahahah. well i usaully prep the bag before hand. its putting the part into the bag thats a bi(*Wh. I hope to find a good write up on infusion. Just looks so hard =(. Will pinholes really disappear with it!?!?!?!? =)
I have a Air Compr -> Vac system and pulls great. 26" of Merc. i have pulled so far. I believe i can pull more. but not sure.
Whats a good clear coat epoxy by the way? i have searched, and im afraid of using the Klear Kote… I hope its not brittle and has a good flex to it.
theres nothing difficult about infusion and yes it will fix every problem you currently have, simple as that.i will try and do a write up with pics this week.
Thanks! =)
Good post, but what happened at the end?? =)
it worked out fine but i dont use tee’s anymore,i do this on the simple parts- http://www.compositeforum.werksberg.com/showthread.php?t=1219
why did you stop using tee’s?
just a waste of money on the simple parts,i will still use them on parts that require spiral wrap, cutting the hose into a loop is free and it works great.
I hate to sound ignor. But, in infusion, can you reuse those hoses that the resin flows through? im guessing…(20 second pause) NOT. (Borat. lol)
Ok, heres my setup.
Compress-> Vac system with 2 Tanks of 3" PVC pipe 15" long to hold preasure. Not res. for es. resin.
I want to build res., wheres the best place to put it in my system. Also, theres a gauge on it, but i saw there was a gauge on your resv. tank. Needed?
Second, that yellow tape your using, hope much is it $? site? US distrib?
Like i said, i hate to sound ignorant and would love all the help. also, are flanges really needed in infusion? does it help? i create all my molds without it. So whatever the part looks like, the mold is similiar. Id hate to remake the molds.
What do you think the avg. cost per. infused part there is? this is not including the cost of cloth and resin.
Curing time, longer? shorter? Ive noticed in bagging its a lot longer. I use 4mil vinyl plastic. is that thick enough? I wonder what else im missing. Is there anyone located in the north east coast US? =)
I think the biggest problem i will face is the fact that some of my molds are more then 1 part. sometimes 4! =(

NOPE

ditch the pump and get a robinair or similar, then its just a hose from pump to resovoir then a hose to the bag.1 gauge anywhere in the system is all thats needed as long as its shows what the bag is getting.

dont get the black tape,i got that and it put me back about 2 years lol

flanges are essential, you cant infuse without them, you need about 4" around the part.

hose,tape,flow media and peelply,maybe $4 a part?
Curing time, longer? shorter?
no difference, purely depends on the resin and temp
Ive noticed in bagging its a lot longer. I use 4mil vinyl plastic. is that thick enough?
should be ok,as long as you can hold vacuum for 10 mins with pump switched off then you are laughing.
I wonder what else im missing. Is there anyone located in the north east coast US? =)
Can someone explain to me the purpose of a pot?? To me, when i think of it, all it does is cook/preasure, but isnt this giving air?? not taking out?
Found this great article. Army based, so im pretty sure they know what their talking about. I read it fast, and wow… helps a bit…
so basically its just a res tank!?
pot is pretty much only there to prevent excess resin being sucked into your pump, its a trap.but ive never had resin in my vac line yet let alone anywhere near my pump but i suppose resin vapours may condense in the pot and not the pump.
