Adding surface texture for grip

One of the boaters at the sandbar wants a couple small swim platform/steps on each side of his outdrive. When I put this texture on the plug before, I would machine the finish on because it was part of the Cad file. This time theirs no Cad because it’s such a small simple shape, just hand carved. But now I wonder how I will add the grip texture that appears on factory swim platforms. Are their thin sheets of material with texture that I can put on the plug to be transfered to the mold?

Shower mats have that surface as well as the grip tape used for showers. Maybe drop by your local Home Depot or Lowes and browse their bath section?

What about spraying epoxy on the part afterwards and than put sand or something Else on it? Or spray some “Unterbodenschutz” ( underseal?) on the plug, looks like a anti slip surface.

Correct Rotorage, you can buy sheets of the texture ( there’s a bunch of different styles) with self adhesive on the back side. Simply cut it out to shape and stick it on then release agent. I can’t remember where to get it. Will do some reseach.

Yep, definately Gibco Flexmold. Say “Hi” to Bethny.

I saw in Handyman magazine recently there are some products that work in and on the painted surface (or resin, whatever)…sand gets dirty and turns black.

Thanks everyone. The Gibco Flex Mold is exactly what I was looking for. They have the same pattern that’s already on the boat. And wow they really have every pattern under the sun plus 50 more. Here’s a shot of the pattern I picked
