A Proper Introduction

Hello, I have joined here to rekindle a long desire to start making my own components out of carbon and possibly produce some commercial items if I come up with anything good.
My first exposure to composites was working for March Composites (Comtec) on the Porsche 90P Indycar. The moulds were done in wet layup, but all components were done in prepreg and large or structural items were also cured in the autoclave. This was the first all carbon fibre Indy Car chassis, but unfortunately the rule makers (i.e… the other team owners) handicapped it while they developed carbon chassis for the following year.

Here is a link to more info on the car, http://8w.forix.com/march90p.html

That is a pretty darn cool project to have worked on.

Welcome!

Thanks Sammy, it certainly was. It was great to rub elbows with some famous racing names and learn from the top of the industry. It was definitely my 15 minutes of fame and I look forward to using what I learned, albeit on a much tighter budget!
