4x4 twill vs 2x2 for complex shapes

Up untill now most of my parts have been done with 2x2 twill carbon (200g).I would like to try out some 4x4 twill carbon but was wondering if this weave style is as easy to work around curves as the 2x2 as some of my parts are small and complex.

Easier to drape, and easier to mess up the weave.

Found this online… Buggati… maybe a Vehron?

I like the use of 4x4 twill but the gloss finish looks “cheesy” on the interior twill parts.

Anyways gives you an idea of what can be molded in 4x4 twill.

Thanks for the info. Will give it a go and see how it turns out

why are you not using a satin weave?http://www.shopmaninc.com/Images/carb109.gif

always have a 0±60 braided flatgood

I haven’t played with it much, but it’s VERY flexible…and more or less holds it’s edge tows as much as the next fabric.

I have been using a 400g satin weave but im running low so need to reorder. Was just wondering what to get for optimal stiffness. How would satin and biaxial of the same weight compare?

Looks good but probably hard to get in the UK

What for? Aside from looking ugly, it is not a balanced fabric. This would require flipping the material on the top half of the lay up.
Doesn’t generally drape too well either because of its tight construction.
