Has anyone use 20 oz carbon twill for the surface layer of the vacuum bagging process? I’ve always use 6 oz but want to cut down the time of using 2 layers of 20 oz instead of 7 layers of 6 oz.
I am more concern of the cosmetic look over structural.
What is the pro and con?
It is bigger. So it looks different.
Maybe you could do 4 layers of 12k 2x2 instead of 20k. 6k and 12k 2x2 are basically the same, or I can’t tell the difference anyways. I’ve used both for surface layers.
I have used 12k 20oz 2x2 many times. I will dig some pics out for you later tonight. However, remember that heavy fabrics aren’t as drapable as lighter ones.
That will be great to see how the 20oz look.
Agree, draping heavier fabrics can cause bridging so you must insure your corners and edges are well placed. You can use a little spray adhesive to get them to conform to your mold but be careful not to spray too much or you will see it on the surface or cause a dry spot.
3k 6oz vs 12k 19oz
