1 mold or 3?

another project im starting lol, some covers for these dash and door trims, using 1mm sheet wax to correct the size before molding.im wondering if i should try and build all 5 parts into one mold or build some seperate ones? im probably gonna do the parts in plain weave so in theory i could drape one piece of cloth across all parts in the mold???

I would do one mold.

Then leave enough space between the 3 sections to where if you wanted to you could bag either 1 section at a time, or, all 3.

Id do one mold as well…only Id never try to bag just one section.

The more you try to make yourself flexible the more youll see it bites you in the ass.

If you have those parts right next to one another and pull all three all the time (every infusion) you may end up with extras but the cost to produce go down.

try to look at everything as a production standpoint. You want to make the cost per part next to nothing.

By infusing all three every time and having very little wasted material ie. inbetween the parts, youll have way less expensive parts cost.

The supplies to infuse can get pricey.

im pretty sure people will only buy full sets, would you mold them closer than i have them there and use one bit of fabric or cut a strip per part?

Id have them just far enough apart to be able to cut them apart without damaging them and then trimming it completely later.

I dunno…1/4" or 6-7mm apart? Our cutoff wheels here in the states are 1/16th thick. At least the ones I use are.

Oh and for simplicity, just use one piece of fabric. Its much easier and a hell of a lot less likely to snag or shift.
