Wow board is dead!

lol…that blue mini spray gun they are advertising on thier home page is way overpriced. I bought the exact same gun for $25 on ebay.[/quote]

it’s not limited to just their guns… EVERYTHING over there costs so damn much… I cringe whenever I hear of someone buying something from there

I don’t see how they stay in business, anyone with half a brain can use the internet to find better deals.

because they generate revenues from first time buyers and since the board is there they keep them there. since we have the freedom to discuss other vendors we always find the best deals, and since they don’t allow any discussion about anyone else but themselves, they keep the ignorant in their circle. the best we can do is PM everyone to come over here. one of us at a time, and every day so that as each gets banned, the next in line can continue IM’ing the rest. In a few months, we’ll have added enough members to this board that the FG board will be a ghost town. and have more knowledge about supplies and materials than FG would ever want us to have.

sounds like a plan. I was one of those suckers when I started this business.

Fortunately when I first started I came across a few other places to order from. Otherwise I would have been one of the suckers too.

I still order some stuff from them like small items such as my vacuum gauges and wedges.

I’m working on filling the shop with so much work I won’t know how to get it completed.

Seriously.

I have a contract now for 200 carbon kevlar goalie masks,20 sets each of a GTO radiator Brkt, and fuel rails,
20 sets each of Cadillac engine covers and radiator brakts, and 20 sets of another engine fuelrailcovers. Plus building the molds for those parts.
I am also at the tail end of a long term quote for a major aftermarket producer. I may be getting a quote to do 500 parts per year on 2 different parts and a 4 year contract.
This one should be known at the end of the day Monday…
Meanwhile, I have also been making the onsey twosey parts such as the mercedes engine covers, and another few odds and ends.
IN the vacuum forming end, I have a big contraact through another supplier that will have me producing 3000-5000 vacuumformed and cnc trimmed parts for the production line of a major automaker on their engine production line…
Other than that, I am bored.
My full time job is trying to collect from some of the deadbeats that have been promisng me money and not paying.

any suggestions on gaining accounts? I have 3 right now that order about 20 parts a month each, which is about as much as I can make myself. Well plus my retail sales is about another 50 a month in parts. I make well enough to hire employees just choose not to until I get more accounts to justify it.

getting accounts has been tedious. I have been working on that for three years now, and I am finally starting to see the fruits of my labors.

Did I say that outloud…sounds like a melodrama…L.O.L.

anyway, I have had so many doors slammed in my face that i look like a bulldog. I hate cold calling, but it seems like that has paid off more than actual leads given by someone else.
I got a few of my better contacts by doing that.

Well done doggie hope the news is good on Mon

Stew get making something asap. Some git (hes a nice chap really im just a bit gutted lol) has just started offering parts on the car forum i spend most of my time on.

Hopefully on tuesday i will be sorting out my workshop (bank holidays always happen when you dont want them to lol) so will start progressing alot quicker!

How large a forming can you dao. Do you do acrylic. feel free to PM me or email “rick at hightechcoatings.com

IN house, I have a 2 ft x 4 ft press, I also have access outside to much larger formers. Up to 4 x 8.

I do impact modified acrylic all the time. there is a slight problem with it in that it doesn’t come out dust free. I usually wetsand with 1500 and polish it if i Need it clear.

Bricklin wants some windows made… VW’s or Bricklin’s? 8)

actually I was thinking of hoods for the bricklin, They were originally Vacuum formed acrylic with fiberglass/epoxy reinforcement. Original hoods are in short supply right now so I was just thinking out load. procuring the matching 1/16 acrylic sheets from Rhom and haas would prolly be the sticking point. The hoods are right around 45X47. ultra smooth dust free finish isn’t required as sanding polishing is the norm once reinforced. I would mind doing door skins as well but they would require massive forming machines due to the odd shape and the 90 degree bend

And my freind is still looking for complete lightweight “glass” for his new style big block chev powered bug.

If Dougie can’t do it, try a local spa maker…oh yea, you are back EAST and spas might not be everywhere…
