I have been able to find little tips and writeups for almost everything except for the process of mold release. I know it is a little mundane, but doing it right probably makes all the difference in the world!
Even, or perhaps anyone that has the time and experience to describe the process in intimate detail, the benefits of using different waxes and build up and polishing methods, and when it is a good idea or cost effective to go with a permanent / semipermanent release agent.
And tacked on to that subject, the process of gelcoating and the proper way to spray/apply and lay in CF, and the advantages of gelcoat over just epoxy outer coat.
Again I know these may seem like selfexplanatory or obvious subjects for you guys that have been doing it for a while, but again doing it right will probably make big changes to the quality and aesthetics of parts.
I will write something up soon.
That would be great!
I know it isn’t the most glamorous part of composites, but it would be nice to know how to do it with a little more refinement than “apply release agent” I can only imagine that for us green guys we either are putting way to much work into it or not really doing it right at all.
I agree Evan, this would be very helpful. Especially if you could shoot massive pics and video along the way. I am sure we could even donate some paypal funds to help fund this
Hey Evan I have a tutorial almost done for adding flanges to a single piece mold and I can do it for adding flanges to a multi-piece mold as well if you like?
Yup, go ahead.
