yeah i can get duratec but not the frekote…
If this is what solves your problem, I’m thinking any semi permanent release agent will work. Look for Zyvax, Chemlease, or just call your suppliers and ask what they carry.
my choice is-

or
http://www.polyfibre.co.uk/product.asp?Category=9
can you see anything there that would be good?
many thanks for your help

I’ve used this. If you can get a small quantity, it might be worth a shot, but I didn’t like it compared to the others I’ve used. Seemed to “grip” the mold when the others let the part litterally fall out.
No1 has responded to my questions =( what happens when the mold is more then 2 pieces? ALso, im located in the US so wheres the best place to get a nice clear coat to put inside the mold before layup and vacuum? or, should i just spray it after i take the part out of the mold? im more afraid of is the parting lines.
A little sanding action is usually required to blend the parting line with multi piece molds. I believe there is a scotch tape trick that someone can fill you in on also. As for supplies, what type of clear coat are you talking about? Polyurethane automotive clear or a clear gelcoat?
Everyone is talking about this Duratec clear. All my parts are made out of epoxy, and im trying to get into the Carbon field. Also, im trying to find a good, some what flexiable epoxy that is clear and has some uv protection…?
yipee

gtfour, whats that?
Freekote is a semi permanent mold release made by loctite
So whats this I hear about tape on 2->… part molds??
One thing on split molds and carbon, make sure the parting line up is perfect otherwise if infusing the part you will have the carbon mirror the line and ruin the look.

Use scotch tape over the parting line to smooth the transition between mold pieces. It will make the parting line less noticeable and make for less finishing work.
I second the scotch tape!!!
