Overlay

Regarding keeping twill straight.

The idea of gluing thin fiberglass to back side is interesting. I’ve never had the need but would something like Airtac 2 do the trick? I know guys use this stuff for infusion. Does it work with both epoxies and polyesters? I’m also wondering if the adhesive would cause wet-out issues for wet layup vacuum bagging applications.

BTW – cool project thanks for sharing!

First post for me. I registered just so I could say “great job.”. The work looks sick.

How did you remove the side channels? Were the windshield/back windows an issue?

Welcome :).

Fastrr, Brilliant work really impressive, how much would you charge to overlay a few small pieces in 4x4 twill?

the peices are about 7" long x 4" wide, 6 in total 5 of them very easy to overlay

Matt

wow fastrr, you’ve come a long way since I’ve been gone. Glad to see you kept at it.

I never did get into overlays. Maybe I need to pay more attention.

Lets hope my BMW headliner turns out as nice. Fabric started sagging, time to do something nice to it that is custom.

BTW, looking for about 10 yards of 2x2 twill… havent bought any since I bought rolls of it a couple years ago… any ideas for good prices these days?

You should be looking for something between $28 - $36 a yard :).

any idea where?

FAST, sorry for the thread jack…just getting antsy
