newbie question!

Hello everyone, i just found this place and just started to get into making carbon parts, i race Motocross and supermoto and am looking at a project where i have to either make a completely new airboot that goes from the air box to the carburetor as the shock spring rubs on the oem airboot, ive put a 125cc motor into a 450 frame and the spacing for the airbox and airboot and carb are different, the problem i have is the air boot on the inside or center of the bike rubs on the shock spring, i need about 1/2" more clearance, i was wondering if i cut out the area of the rubber airboot to clear the shock spring and then coat the entire rubber airboot with epoxy resin and then layer the whole airboot with carbon fiber cloth and make it narrower will it stick to the rubber and be a good bond and hold together as the whole airboot would be encased and skinned or wraped? or would i have to make a complete new mold?
