The resin will run through the spiral without problems. Last time I tried I did a 280cm dia (some 9ft) dia pipe, where I infused a “sock” around it. So at least 2,8 * pi * 0,5 = 5 meter of spiral where the resin had to go through, and 3 meter up in the air. All without problems.
The spiral wrap method works well in delivering a good feed quickly across the width of the infusion media at the very start of an infusion and can help provide a uniform resin front. This is desirable when doing large panels with multiple vacuum lines and resin feeds when in series.
