The same as using spiral tube with prepreg: none. Prepregs aren’t supposed to bleed a lot, so no resin comes close to the air extraction point. You don’t need a membrane to stop excess resin getting out, you need the right amount of vacuum and perforated film.
I recieved a sample from HP-textiles. Will try it when I have the chance.
Depending on the prepreg there is a lot of resin to suck it out. The one customer uses only peelply and the MTI hose. So he creates a resin rich laminate which has a perfect optic!
I don’t know why the other customer use it with prepregs, they don’t tell me.
I usually get perfect results with 42% prepregs by using non perforated film onto the laminate. I get 0 bleed and perfect distribution of the resin.
If I need a lighter laminate, or a thicker one, I use perforated film between the carbon and the breather.
I really can’t explain to myself any advantage of the MTI hose with prepregs.
It was made for infusion, not for prepregs. But some customer told me that they get better results with the MTI hose with prepregs.
You can also get perfect results without the MTI hose, but it is much easier with the MTI hose and you don’t have any rework.
I am often surprised where our product is used, there seem to be more advantages.

In october one of our custumers will move over to the US to be the general distributor in the US. He is also member of this forum and has written a post here.
His name is Jürgen and his nick here is designbikes. He has had the same problems than lot of other people here with manufactoring fibre reinforced parts.
I think he will write here when he will read it.
I will also open a new thread where we can talk about all non technical things about the MTI hose.

finally back from a job related two month stay in Brasil I`m currently preparing the necessary things to launch the new business in the US. The idea is to sell innovative composite products which are presently just purchasable in Europe, on the US market. Due to my own great experiences with the MTI hose I consider that product to be the best starting point.
A short introduction of my person. Im a 48 year old mechanical engineer and Im living with my wife and our two young boys in Germany, Düsseldorf. Before I went to Brasil to support a ThyssenKrupp task force I worked 3 years as CEO for a service provider company.
In my spare time I`m intensively working on a motorcycle which is by now the product of a 9 years evolution process. During the production process of the carbon fibre parts I came across the MTI hose and met Dominik. I consider him to be an very smart and inspiring person with a strong background within the composite business. Dominik was looking for a proper distribution channel within the US and I was looking for a new challenge in my life. So we decided to work together and capture the US market.
There are a couple of things to do and I hope you guys will remain loyal and I can count on you

Yes, you can already get it. DD-Compound got an agreement with Dpaine, one of the forum members. He keeps a small stock in the US and organizes the shipping. Just send an e-mail to DD-compound. You can order the hose and pay by paypal.
