Hi I notice [MTI](javascript:void(0) hose when seen in the pictures and videos is shown positioned around the perimeter of the [moulds](javascript:void(0);). Does it still work well if place on top of the laminate in the center and infuse outside in? The application I have in mind is for a canoe hull to go around the perimeter would require 12 meters when perhaps this amount could be kept down to 3-4 meters if it would work infusing from outside perimeter to inside center?
Yes, that works as well. However I am not too fond of infusion top to bottom, but with a reliable and deep vacuum it should not be a problem.
It will work, but I never suggest to make a infusion from the perimeter to the inside. There is always the risk of surface problems where the resin fronts meet. Also like herman said I would infuse from the down to the top.
I see that you need about 3 times as much MTI hose if infusing from the middle, but the result and the lower risk of problems will compensate that.
I am sure you got a sample. Have you tested it?
Thanks for your replies, I have not requested a sample to test as yet. But will enquire for one at a later date and have been following its use with interest.
As usual on this forum. A perimeter vaccum is safest. I had limited sucess infusing top to bottom with a pump (rotary, oilless) which only developed 26". I think if I had had a better pull (29-30"Hg) I would have had better results. But bottom to top is best.
Happy New Year To All.
Is it still possible to get a sample of this Mti hose
DDCompoundā¦I am about to do a double sided foam cored infusion for some race wing end plates and using an outside perimeter vac and raised center manifold for resin infusion.
You kindly forwarded to me a sample of the MTI hose that I believe will be long enough to try on one of the two end plates.
I plan on trying to make a video as I go to watch the final difference from one being infused the same but with traditional release film over spiral on the perimeter. I am setting these up on a glass table to watch from both sides.
More later.
DDCompound,
Is the hose available in the US yet? How can I get some?
Yes, this is my first post.
FYI
Also available in many other countries. Ask you supplier, if he does not sell it ask him to contact us.
How do we get sample of this, we have tried vacuum infusion several times & had several so called " experts " come in & show us how, after several unsuccessful attempts we have given up on V. I. until I read this
Contact German Advanced Composites. He can also show you how to. You can also ask for consulting you. After he showed you how you are able to make perfect infusions, I guarantee.
There are a lot of experts out there, but not many make the offer that you only have to pay them if it works.
The product launch in the USA took place last week at the Composites 2013 trade show in Orlando and we can proudly announce that the experts of the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) honoured the MTI hose with the āEquipment and Tooling Innovation Awardā.
Golf clapp hereā¦
Well done, and wel deserved.
GlĆ¼ckwĆ¼nsche!
I just ordered a bunch. I canāt wait to get it. Iāve tested a few pieces and I think the only reason why my first part even turned out useable was because of the hose.
On a side note if youāre careful enough you can extract the interior spiral tubing and use that too! Iāve never used traditional spiral tubing before but have a test flat piece Iām doing right now to diagnosis some issues Iāve been having.
I have been trying to get a quote to buy 100ft or so of this stuff and cant get threw to them because of all the spam blockers they have to contact them, i tried calling and they said to e-mail them. sure wish it was easier to get into touch with them. I tried the Florida dealer. Is there any tricks to contacting them for a simple quote and get the stuff ordered.
I read somewhere that MTI could be used on old moulds without flange areas, is it true, anybody test it ? cause on original youtube videos didnt saw anyone was trying.
