Never use a strechable film, make pleats, that does not worry! ALL stretchable films I know make problems. Take a PA/PA or PA/PP compound bagging film and you will not have these problems. It is important that there is a PA layer in the film.
Indeed. WL5400 (preferably the 75 mu) is good, Big Blue (L100) is good nowadays, L500 is good, WL7400 is good. (all Airtech).
I am not too fond of SL200 either. For starters it is only 38 mu, and will thin out even more when stretching. And you cannot use it for polyester either, as it is made of some obscure polymer. (pu probably). Same for SL700. SL800 is a stretchable nylon, and is pretty much OK. However, pressure on the laminate may vary due to the forces needed for stretching the material. (in corners).
Get a non-stretch film, and make pleats. Lots of them. DD and I are totally on the same level in that respect.
there’s two problems I have found with using a very stretchy bag for infusion, one is that you get fooled during a leak test because any holes the bag may have get closed off by the bag itself until the bag relaxes during infusion at which point air comes in. Two, the bag swells way too much during infusion, the bag itself is not rigid enough and you loose compaction.
I’ve got some from Prf but no data received yet, this film seems a lot rigid compared to others I have used it is bf007. Has any one used it.
After enveloping this part 4 times now still leaking I have traced down to bagging film creasing up under vaccum and tearing,so ripped off all bagging material and decided to deal with the flange rubbing down filling low stops feathering out and sealing from flange,I have spent hours of time, but pulled vaccum slowly pressing down then let loose and pulled full vaccum so far holding minus 30 for the last 5 hours,I will see in morning, then infuse.
Have you sorted this problem out as I’m having the exact same problems, can’t hold vac, can’t find leak, have re-bagged 4 times, still can’t find any leaks
I’m using this stuff http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/p-1661-50-micron-vacuum-bag-film-06-mt-wide-tube.aspx
Can anyone suggest UK suppliers for alternative bagging film of know quality for infusion?
Thanks
I have to thank one of the administrators that mention testing the equipment first to to see if it holds vacuum. In my case of wasting 1 week and 4 stacks of carbon and a whole infusion setup just to find out that my bag did hold vacuum and the carbon mods catch pot was leaking all this time. Even was about to order the inficon whisper.
