Too fast for your vac level. Reduce flow speed or work with higher vacuum.
What completion time do you think I should be aiming for in this part?
are they bubbles, delams, or actually dry fiber? Might have had some resin stick to the plate (is there resin on the mold?) and when you lifted it, it might have delaminated a layer or 2. If a bubble (smooth tool surface all around) maybe slow the resin feed. You can normally just slightly kink or clamp the tube to restrict the flow. Watch your pot life. If you have 2 hours, you can afford to have it infuse in 30min, not 6. If only a 15min life…be careful.
I think delamination is the most likely explanation there. It was hard to get off and there was some resin left on the mould. Luckinly its mostly up one end so the rest is salvageable.
I have a valve on both ends of the setup so I can vary flow with that.
Pot life is short, about 28 mins, but I’ll aim for an infusion that completes in about 15 mins next time.
Cheers.
If you are able to degass your resin, please do. Your laminate is not as green coloured as it could be.
Thanks herman, this is an ongoing project really, in your experience what kind of vacuum level do you need to effecively degas? Is heat also necessary?
no heat, vacuum 20 mbar or less
