There you go

Ok here it is… I’ll just put up the pictures for now. When I have time I’ll come back and put in my 2cents. Hopefully you can get an idea of how to incorporate these ideas into your molding process.
Top side of the original

Bottom side of the original with mounting shown

Mold shown. The triangular peg is the mounting guide for the second mold.

The small peg here captures the sharp recess in the part (see the front of picture 1). This peg is removeable to aid in the removal of the part from the mold. I simply screw the peg to the mold from the back side before the layup. After the part is made, I remove the screw and that peg comes off with the part instead of me having to try and pry the part out of the mold. Once the part comes out, I put the screw back onto the peg itself and pull the peg out.

Secondary mold for the mounts. Notice the negative impression of the triangular peg.

Finished part is placed back into the mold and the secondary mold is mounted on top. I didn’t have a finished part so I went ahead and placed the original part back so you can kind of get an idea.

You can see there are 4 bolts attached to the secondary mold. These bolts simulate the actual bolts that will be mounted to the finished part. Now I will take 4 nuts and place them onto the bolts and attach the secondary mold to the main mold. The last picture shows how the nuts would sit exactly where it needs to be. All I need to do now is build up the cavity with either duraglass or something like that to hold the nuts in place. Once it’s all cured, the secondary mold is removed as well as the 4 bolts leaving the nuts sitting exactly where it’s suppsed to be. The mounts also rise up to the exact height as the original part so there will be no fitment issue.

If you don’t get that still, then this is probably not the route to go. If you need to see it in person and have me explain it, feel free to stop by.

I’m lost, please explain.

yeah me too.
