Hood heat extractor vents design

Very cool design. How did you end up doing the detail work for the actual extractors?

Also on a non construction related note, are you at all worried about the high pressure area in front of the windscreen pushing air back into the engine bay ala a cowl induction hood? Not sure if the last vent is close enough for this to happen but might be worth taping some string to the hood and see how it reacts at speed.

i should have the car done in 4-5 days.

the air pushing down into the engine bay, yes it probably will happen on the vents nearest the windshield… i’m not really that concerned as it’s a street car that will probably be doing under 80mph most of it’s life. It would be interesting to see it in a wind tunnel though with the smoke/vapor.
I have seen other designs where the vents are right by the windshield.

the plug was made with rope and bodyfiller.

I got the fiberglass trunk prefitted today, a happy day to be sure. It all lines up and latches closed. I have to pull it back off to paint the underside and carbon fiber overlay the outter.

I so want to make the outter skin mold now.

you made the frame side first?

overlay? I thought you were making a mould from these to make the real hoods, I thought that the bits in the earlier photos were just the main plug?

Didnt you have a december deadline for this job fastrr?

Matvd, we do have the plugs pretty much made for the hood and trunk, just didn’t have time to build the molds. Once i have the hood made i will see if others want to buy the hoods and then i’ll decide to build mold or not. I want to but have so much work to do currently on other parts. The trunk is fiberglass with cf overlay. essentially the same thing many sell on ebay… you know the $400-600 hoods and trunks.

I just need to get more ver to build the molds. I’m thinking a 55 gallon drum next time.
