Have u ever made something that sucked sooo bad to do? We did

i had one resin line sectioned to 2 spots.

this was made over a year ago — Video I mean http://youtube.com/watch?v=zLUnxUw3nnI

we do things a little different now, I can’t find a pic of it though we use one resin line and that is t’ed off to to intakes right into the part. I double or tripple the flow media to make channels and we don’t use the spiral wrap anymore

ok only pic I could find, we no longer use the spiral wrap and instead of 2 tubes we make one t’ed off but still intake in the same area. Also about half the flow media too

Is there a link that explains the vacuum infusion process to someone like me who is just getting into this type of work? Not making hoods type of work… that would be insane for me to try something that difficult. What is “flow media”?

Will using vacuum get rid of ALL the seperation spaces between the cloth and resin?

hmmm… i really dont know of any links that really get into it in detail. It was all trial and error for me when I started. I did do an apprentice with evan (orignator of the first site) and learned a little but i did not start infusing till several months later so I could not recall everything.

here is something basic for you.

flow media is the green stuff in the pic. it helps the resin flow through the part.

forgot to post the link again

they go through a lot of steps. I don’t use a couple of the steps personally.

you never have a problem with the spiral imprinting on the carbon?

i don’t use spiral wrap anymore just because of that. I make channels with flow media now

smart… ok thanks!

I really need to stop being a cheap ass and upsize my line.

I use cheap tiny line that takes for ever to flow resin…

I cant believe you did that whole hood in 3 minutes.

When you guys laid up that frame, did you guys just cover the entire mold with fabric and trim out?

i forgot, tuesday i had a part infused without spiral b/c i ran out. i was about to run 2 the nearest HD, but i said… let me use flow media. i folded it around a cut poly line… worked like a charm!
