For gtfour 4 x 4 twill

how do you make that?

If you were in my class, you would already be making parts with CF pre-preg.

It is CF with proper Epoxy resin and hardener already into it. It is layered with PE film and kept frozen until ready to cut and lay up. It is vacuum bagged and then oven or auto claved cured then at 250 or 350 degrees…

I wish I could’ve take the class, but I didn’t have time for it, I’ll try next section when there’s another one. I bet the class will be fun.

After that I think I am ready to die!!!

Any one know where I can get some 4x4 twill x 50" wide?
I could use 10 yards or so.
Has any one used the large checker weave to make any parts with? Pictures?

yup…

I got my 4x4 from boeing so I don’t know another supplier.

The larger weave SUCKS to work with. It does not do corners at all. Most of the time the weave is streched off the roll and you have to play with it for like and hour before you can go on

Fantastic Zonda 4x4 twill, thanks for the pics. IMO the best looking weave for the surface. Prepreg would be the best way to handle this stuff.

Werksberg On the leading edge of the rear view mirror there must be a seam. Does the prepreg fill this seam during the autoclave process?

I think you can get some 4x4 twill from Pennon http://www.pennon.com/
He sells scrapes on ebay and I think has some quantity.

That large checkerboard pattern looks like it picks up the texture from the surface coat a little too well.

it really doesn’t, we use a special process to make it look like that. normally it looks fine

gtfour, your message box is full so i`ll reply here. Let the Duratec cure / not tacky before you lay up the carbon.

Glad you got the 4 x 4, should be enough there to give it a try.
