Or a minor crash on the street. I’m sure there are more crashes there, than the track!!
I’ve only had one “crash” (slow speed, hit the side of the road in mud, couldn’t do anything but let it slide down) and some forgetting the disc lock on the wheel…I’ve damaged the hell out of my bike!
Then again, trying to take the front wheel off also messed up the barends.
sigh I hate bikes, but I can’t do anything but love riding them!
Very very nice work. You did an awesome job with the rattle cans. It’s not easy to achieve such a nice finish with a rattle can. I love the look. If someone else wants to copy it using an hvlp, let me know. I can get you the paint brand and color. It’s probably a kandy concentrate mixed in with clearcoat. HOK and many others make Kandy colors that are either directly sprayable once mixed with the catalyst, or they can be mixed in a clear coat urethane.
Looks very hot.
Most times if paint is going over plastic ( resin is plastic )and you have sanded the substrate, no adhesion promotor is needed. Mainly adhesion promotor is for brand new plastic parts and you want to save time by not doing any sanding…
new bumper cover for a ford or bmw, any make.
Wash the bumper cover with auto body solvent wash.
Spray Bulldog or similar adhesion promotor.
primer the part, finish sand primer with 400-500 grit paper, clean again, then paint. Body shops are usually the ones using adhesion promotor. No big deal really, was just an extra step you took.
" 8 weeks, i’m slow". No you’re not… it would take me longer lol.
Are you making all these GSXR fairings from the same set of molds? What do your molds look like and what are they made of? The parts your producing look great.
Here in the UK I got some samples of Eglass a while back that came in various different colours, which looked quite nice, and obviously didnt need any sort of painting to produce final finish effect.
Fastrr,
They are from the same molds, I use the gel coat as a sanding layer to even out the part. Normal tooling gelcoat and FG mat molds, I dont make very good ones but they work.
Classicbike,
I gave up on getting the colored fabric, I needed to order 25+yds at a time (to much for me). I clear all my parts anyway so I will just paint them.
