F/G is flexing too much

The pre-packaged Bondo brand fiberglass cloth i was/am using is 10oz. I compared the weave to that on fiberglasssite.com The only thing that resembed the weave size is 10oz and it’s dead on resemblance.

I used 4 layers on the 3 sides of my cowl part, then 4 layers in the middle. LOTS of extra resin. I didn’t know better at the time. All that and the part flexed badly. I guess next time I’ll use vacuum bagging, less resin ( squeegy out the excess and not apply as much ), along with 7 layers of 10oz cloth… and a spring with 1/3-1/2 less the tension as the one that is on there now.

You need to cut and lay the reinforcements in different ply orentation. 0, 90, -45 and +45 degrees

Thanks Werksberg, I had thought about it and then didn’t know if it made a difference or not… apparently it does. Good pointer
