Hi all,
Is there any method to check if the resin has fully cured in filament winding after keeping the product in the oven for the recommnded time?
Does the part feel cured? Has the finished product been tested?
check if its hardend, if you had the right amount of resin content, and the oven temp was right in spec it should be cured. but if your not sure, checking for gel or soft spots seem like the only way. what is your procedure for resin and cure?
Trim a piece off the end if there is a small amount spare and do some tests on it. Cut it up and see what it is like inside. Can you pull it apart? etc
Without destructive testing, it’s hard. You can sometimes do a near IR FTIR on a uncured, and cured, and see what spectra is coming off, Maybe a DMA/TGA/DSC on a piece of the part.
When processing, you should throw thermocouples IN the part, to see what temp gradient.
It’s a science.
Buy a barcol hardness meter. This tells you a lot. (once you gained some experience in judging the numbers)
