Complex part. Bag option problem....

The mold is made of about $250 worth of casting material. You can litterally hit it with a sledge hammer as hard as you want and it will only put about a dime sized dent in it. The only way weve been able to detroy this stuff is with a hand saw, and then hitting it with a sledge.

The part was originally CAD designed (or maybe hand drafted, its like 30 years old). We reprodcued it by taking a casting of the inner part of the shell we were told to copy.

By the way the latex bag came out “OK”. One thing I noticed is that brushing the latex on in apposing brush directions with each new layer would probably produce a more consistant thickness and appearance. Gonna try it next time.

Experience and try different methods with the latex. Place a fan on it to dry faster and don’t forget wound gauze (medical) as the reinforcement or you might get away with some nylon netting or FG Cloth?

Who supplied the latex? Did you try infusion with it yet? I’m still looking for a good silicone bag supplier, maybe latex would work.

Bought the latex at Jerry’s Art O’rama in the plaster and stone casting section. No web site.

I originally bought it to copy some fishing lures I have. Then I learned there’s much better methods out there.

Havent tried it with infusion yet. Although Im working on a mold for my Nissan that I plan on making a letex bag for. Ill let you know how it works.

You can try freemansupply.com for clear silicone. All of their products are top notch.

If you need someone to make some silicone products for you these guys can help:

Werks: Thanks for the tip. Never would have thought of using netting. We experamented with spraying it. Worked pretty good. Just need some amonia/distilled water to thin it a little.
