A couple of bikes I have built and a few parts.

This guy burnt his eyelids. Not a good thing. Probably the corrosive amine fumes of the hardener played a role. Protect yourself!

Hi Herman,
Thanks for you comment on the work.

Yes the health problems I had were due the fumes from the resin as my eye lids got burnt and them the skin became sensitive and the skin peeled off just like sun burn hence why I always use a full face respirator now. This resin is very good, but also very strong. If it can do this to your skin imagine what it’s doing to your lungs!
It was more my fault than just the resin as I was working too close to the surface of the part when wetting out, so my eyelids got the fumes, I was using a respirator mask but not a full facepiece.
I use this all the time now:-
3M Full Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6800

Thanks for the advice on the alternative resin I will look into this next week.

I also had another heath scare this year due to the cold weather as I have got Raynaud’s syndrome, and nearly lost my left thumb back in February/March due to poor blood circulation, so I am already getting my workshop prepared for this winter.

As for the bikes I built all of them, apart from the RC45, I just fitted the fairing, seat & airtubes to that, however it is coming back to my workshop in October to get a few more parts made.
I have built quite a few bikes now, & the TZR535 is my personal bike, I will also be building a Yamaha YZR500 in February 2014 which has to be ready for the Isle of Man in June.

Here is also an Aprilia RS250 Tail tidy rear light mounting:-

the original was 340gms this is 34gm.

I will send you have a pm with my contact details as I am old school & typing takes me too long, give me a call some time.

Best regards

Hi Peddro, I looked up the TZR535 as I had not heard of that mod and I happened to see yours. Gorgeous! Couple of questions, is the engine a Cheetah RZ350 taken out or is it originally a 500cc engine? Also, I saw the swingarm. Is that a solid carbon swingarm or a cloaked OEM one? If solid, I applaud you, I don`t even want to know how much work went into it!

Great work Peddro and sweet bike…I’m a Yamaha guy myself, R1’s and a R7.

I hope to have a full custom carbon body kit done this year for my 98 R1.

Quite impressive!

Sorry for late reply as I dont come on this forum very often.
The engine is a “CPI” 535cc kit which is fitted to an RZ350 bottom end, with a few modifications. it now makes 101bhp & 54lb torque. I have built several of these engines now for customers, they are very good fun.

The swingarm is the original TZR 3XV swingarm, but not just wrapped in “one layer” of carbon, it has multiple layers laid in different orientations, and the chain run is solid.
I have also prevented Galvanic corrosion from happening.
It did take a bit of time, the end result is worth it to me,it wont be everones “Cup of Tea” though. But nicer than just welding lumps of Aluminium to it.

I have also done this to another bike, Honda CBR900 RR (Foxeye)

I am now working on a Superkart engine and bodywork which is racing in the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship.
I will post some photos later in the year when the work is completed.

Thanks for the kind comments

Best regards

Wow. Amazing work. Can you explain the process for how you made the swing arm (carbon over the original aluminum part)? Did you make a mold, and then add the aluminum part to it in the mold? Or did you make the carbon part separately in a mold, and then attach it to the aluminum part after it was removed from the mold? I cannot figure it out.

Hot diggity dang!! The end result is worth it…? No kidding!

Do you have any process pictures of that swingarm? Looks mega! How did you fill in the areas, foam?

Not been on here for a while as I have been a bit busy.

Well finally finished the Airbox for the Division 1 superkart to race in this years Euro Championship.
The Spec was to make the airbox as big as possible with the carbs fitted inside the box, in the area of the side pod/exhaust/crash bars ect, then calculate the air tube to suit.

The testing has gone very well so far and gave an instant 3bhp increase, plus its much better on the track as it gave much more drive, the driver says it plus mach harder in back to back tests with last years set up, so a happy customer.
Sorry for the rubbish photos.

I have also been making air box’s for 2 bikes for the Isle of Man TT races (Super twin race)
It was a bit of a pain as I had to make it as big as I could in the confined space under the tank & around the engine, so I made a mold from the underside of the tank and made a plug to sit over the engine and ended up with this.
It’s not been tested as yet but is already on the Island for practice week next week.
The second air box will be finished tomorrow & is going out there on Saturday.
Standard air box held 5.4lts the new air box holds 9.8lts plus the air tube 1.8lts
The weave & joins are not very good as it was a rush job for practice week!

Love the rs250, was this in a magazine a bit ago.?

Are you still making carbon fiber items.??

Lee

Hi Lee,

Thank you for the kind comments.
Yes I am still making parts, however don’t post much on the forum these days.
What are you looking for?

Best regards

Would you be able to make an airbox for ER6?

Hi Kwacker84,

Give me a call.

I have made both a Air-scoops which fit into the base of the original air box.
Also I have also made full airboxs a few race teams, for the ER6.

http://s695.photobucket.com/user/peddrotzr/library/Super%20twin?sort=3&page=1

I have also been making Suzuki SV650 Supertwin air boxes for a race team for the TT races in June.
I made the plugs, all molds & the 4 Air boxes during last month.
This is the biggest Airbox I could make in the available space under the tank,
as the customer didn’t want me to use the tank as the lid of the Airbox.
The air tubes were a bit difficult, as they have to thread through the trellis frame, so a short tube with a flange is attached from the inside of the Airbox so not to cause a restrtiction to airflow, then the main air tube slots into the stub tube, and in turn the front of the main air tube fits into the fairing.
I am quite happy with the result of how they all fit together, just waiting for the results from the dyno.

Next project is to make 2 airboxes & air intakes for a Kawasaki ZXR750 for the Isle of Man Classic TT in August, were I am also a mechanic for the race team.

I have also Got Bimota YB3 to restore, so quite busy.

Best regards
Johnny C.
