HAYABUSA 2012 Carbon fiber project!!!

Hayabusa Air ducts:

Right and left fairings:

The fairings are one piece instead of two. There was little problem with the stretching but I fix it.

You can use Polyester flexible resin for the molds. This give you the opportunately to stretch without break.

Really great work man! Inspirational for sure. That looks like a lot of work indeed, but I’m sure you will earn a pretty penny.

I am doing a similarly complicated mould at the moment, but on a smaller scale. Roughly size of one of those inlet ducts.

My question is, how do you get the fiber into all the complicated recesses of the mould? Your moulds look complex like mine. Do you use a gel coat and let it tack? Or a spray glue of some sort. Or without glue/gelcoat and just use your hands and blunt tools to push the fabric and bagging stack into all the complicated places?

I have been looking everywhere for info on this subject, help me out please!

thanks alot.

Fabian

The tools are always something that you need it but is not enough. You need for very difficult corners to use glue and sometimes some small stickers on the back. After, you add the other layers with just spray glue. The small stickers are the best way for my job and nobody can see it because is in the middle of layers.

In the next hours I will add the finally picture installed on the bike.
